BITSAT 2011

BITSAT is an entrance exam conducted for admission in to Birla Institute of Technology and Science for bachelor engineering programs in its Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa campuses. Unlike other engineering entrance tests BITSAT is not a paper based test but an online test. For the easiness of the students it occurs on different days for different students with different question sets of similar difficulty levels.  BITS also provide opportunities to board-toppers students for direct admission in to these institutes without any entrance examination in specified course. This exam includes short and tricky questions related to the subjects like maths, physics and chemistry.
The various institutes of Birla institute of Technology and Science in Hyderabad, Pilani and Goa grant admission to those students who have qualified in this admission test. The BITS institutes are one of the most prestigious institutes for engineering education in India and provide a number of undergraduate programs to the students. These institutes provide excellent facilities like well equipped library, labs, computer & internet labs, workshop and organized class rooms to its students. These institutes also have experienced and qualified faculty members and provide all sorts of help to its students by distributing all sorts of study materials and extra stuffs related to their course.

Birla Institutes of Technology is amongst the top ranking institutes of India. Therefore a very large number of candidates apply for BITSAT every year. Last time more than one and half lakh students appeared for Birla Institute Technology and Science Admission Test. The students who are willing to take admission in this group of institutions need to prepare hard to get their course of interest.
Application Forms Availability for BITSAT 2011
One has to apply online for BITSAT on its website. After filling the necessary details in the online form a candidate has to take its print out and send it to BITS Pilani along with required documents and demand draft. The form can also be obtained by sending a request for the form to BITS Admission Officer along with a Demand Draft. There is a concession in application fees for female candidates to encourage them.

Deadline to apply for BITSAT-2011: end of the month of January, 2011
Test center allotment and announcement to candidates: mid of February, 2011
Candidates to reserve Test dates: mid of 3rd week of February – 2nd week of March 2011
Candidates to download the Hall tickets with instructions: 2nd week of April – last week of April 2011
BITSAT 2011 Online tests: beginning of 2nd week of May – mid of June 2011
Candidates to apply for admission with 12th marks and preferences to Degree programs: 3rd week of May – End of the month of June 2011
Admit List and Wait List announcement (BITSAT 2011 Result Date): 1st week of July 2011
Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT:
The minimum eligibility required to appear in BITSAT is that the candidates need to pass 12th with at least 80% marks in aggregate in PCM subjects. Also a candidate should have to score a minimum of 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Only those candidates who have passed 12th in 2010 or are appearing in 2011 are eligible to appear for BITS Admission Test.

Pattern of examination:
BITSAT is an online test of three hours duration. There will be 150 objective questions with each having four options. For a correct answer a candidate gets 3 marks and for an incorrect answer 1 mark is deducted. The distribution of 150 questions is as followed:
Physics-40
Chemistry-40
English Proficiency-15
Logical Reasoning-10
Mathematics-45
If a candidate completes all 150 questions before 3 hours he/she can choose to go for 12 extra questions which will be from Physics, Chemistry and Maths. The syllabus of BITSAT is similar to NCERT 11th and 12th syllabus.
