NOTIFICATION FOR RECRUITMENT OF MERITORIOUS
SPORTS PERSONS AS POSTAL ASSISTANTS,SORTING ASSISTANTS
and POSTMEN.

I Applications in the prescribed format are invited from meritorious sports
persons for the posts of Postal Assistants, Sorting Assistants and Postmen
under sports quota in the pay scale of Rs.5200-20200 Plus allowances with
grade pay of Rs 2400/- in respect of PA/SA and postmen in the pay scale of
Rs. 5200-20200 Plus allowances with grade pay of Rs. 2000/-.
II. Age should be between 18 and 25 years as on the last date prescribed for
receipt of applications.
Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years in General Category and 10 years in
case of SC/ST for sportspersons who are considered meritorious in the order
mentioned below.
a) Who represented a state or the country in the National or International
competitions.
b) Who represented their University in the Inter-University tournaments
conducted by the Inter-University sports boards
c)Who represented the State School Team in the National Sports/Games for
the schools conducted by the All India School Sports / Games Federation.
d)Who has secured “National Award” in Physical Efficiency under the
Physical Efficiency Drive.
III. Minimum Educational Qualification:-
For PA/SA: A pass in 10+2 standard or 12th class pass of a recognized
university or Board of School Education or Board of Secondary Education
with English as a compulsory subject (Excluding vocational streams like
DME, DEE, DCCT etc.,). The candidates should have studied any local
language recognized by AP State Government as a subject at least up to
SSC (Matriculation or equivalent level). The candidates of higher

qualifications will also be considered but they have to fulfil the above
conditions. Typing knowledge and computer knowledge is desirable.
For Postmen: Matriculation or Equivalent.
IV. Scope of Recruitment:
(a) Recruitment of meritorious Sportspersons as Postal Assistants/Sorting
Assistants/Postmen is confined only to the following sports
events/games and the selection will be through a Departmental
Selection Committee (DSC) and final selection is subject to verification
of the skill of the candidates in their respective events by nominated
experts in the field.

(b)Evidence in support of merit in sports events/games:
Only certificates awarded by the authorities mentioned here under will be
taken into account as evidence in support of having participated in
competitions in any of the above Sports events / Games while considering
eligibility of the applicant. A candidate who cannot produce attested
copies of at least one certificate issued by one of the authorities
mentioned here under along with application need not apply.

V. Terms and conditions: The selected candidates will have to participate in
any activities pertaining to the discipline under which recruited, that would be
conducted by the Department of Posts for a minimum period of 5 years from
the date of their appointment.
VI. Period of Training: 48 Working Days for Postal Assistants/Sorting
Assistants and 10 days for Postmen during which stipend will be paid at the
prescribed rates.
VII How to apply: Applications on plain paper in the format prescribed in
English should be addressed to the Asst Director (Rectt & Welfare) O/O Chief
Postmaster-General, AP Circle, Hyderabad-500 001. The applicants have to
send their applications clearly specifying the post for which applied for by
Speed Post/Registered post only and the envelopes may be superscribed as
“Application for Recruitment of Meritorious Sports persons as
PAs/SAs/Postmen”. The applications sent by ordinary post or individual by
persons or by courier will not be entertained.

The selected candidates will be allotted to any of the above

IX. Special instructions to the applicants:
1. Original certificates should not be submitted. Only attested Xerox
copies should be sent along with the application.
2. Proof for date of birth should be enclosed (Xerox copy only)
3. Applications/Prescribed documents received after due date will be
rejected.
4. Only selected candidates will be informed of the selection. No
correspondence will be entertained with others. Applications not
adhering to the format / conditions specified in the notification eg
incomplete application forms and applications without attested copies
of the required certificates will be summarily rejected. No intimations
will be sent in this regard.
5. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC have to submit community
certificate in the prescribed form issued by Revenue Officer/Tahsildar.
OBC certificates should invariably contain a clause to the effect that
the applicant does not belong to creamy layer.

6. Two passport size recent photographs are required, one to be pasted in
the application and other to be sent loose with name and address
written on the reverse. The loose photo may be securely kept in a
small cover and the cover neatly stitched to the application.
7. The selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in AP Circle and
in Army Postal Service in case of National Emergency/War at the sole
discretion of the Appointing authorities.
8. No allowances or expenses will be paid for attending the test and
candidates will have to bear the cost.
9. The vacancies notified are subject to change without assigning any
reason and Department reserves the right to cancel the recruitment if
so warranted.
